Anne Redpath RA, Tulips in Blue Jar, 1961

Anne Redpath RA, Tulips in Blue Jar, 1961, 546mm x 762mm

Anne Redpath RA. Born 1895 at Galashiels. Studied at Edinburgh College of Art. An important Scottish painter who, apart from l5 years in France when she did little painting, lived in Edinburgh where she died in 1965. Painter in oil and watercolour of landscapes, town scenes, interiors and flowers, she owed much to another important woman painter, Frances Hodgkins, whose work she much admired. This picture is typical of her bold impressionistic style of watercolour painting. Her work is in many public galleries.
